Two Main Streams
Post-Study Work Stream
The most popular stream for university graduates. Bachelor’s graduates get 2 years, Master’s by coursework get 3 years, Master’s by research get 3 years, and PhD graduates get 6 years. Study in a regional area for an additional 1–2 years.
Graduate Work Stream
For students whose qualifications relate to an occupation on the MLTSSL. Requires a skills assessment. Good for VET and trade graduates in in-demand industries.
Key Eligibility Requirements
You must be under 50 years of age
Hold a valid student visa when applying (or held one in the last 6 months)
Have completed a CRICOS-registered course of at least 2 academic years (92 weeks)
Completed the qualification within the last 6 months
Meet English language requirements (IELTS 6.0 overall, minimum 5.0 in each band)
Have applied for an AFP Police Check
Have adequate health insurance (OVHC)

Studying in a designated regional area (Category 2 or 3) gives you:
Extra 1–2 years on your 485 Visa
Additional 5 points toward skilled migration
